Y.O.U.N.G Ghostbusters Honored by Projekt Cars

“Who You Gonna Call? Ghostbusters!” It’s probably one of the most memorable movie lines ever, and one that the El Paso Y.O.U.N.G Ghostbusters (Youth Organization Uncovering A New Generation) has made their own. The group consists of dedicated, proactive community members of all ages who are devoted to promoting the self-esteem and education of at-risk children through positive youth-focused activities and events. Y.O.U.N.G recruits children throughout the region and teaches them about the importance of volunteering in the community, staying in school, and being drug and alcohol-free. The team even fundraises for and partners with other service and social justice organizations to promote awareness. And they do it all in full character and costume of, you guessed it, the beloved 1984 Ghostbusters film.

Car Events as an Education Platform

In addition to visiting schools or attending community activities—and of huge interest to us here at The Engine Block—the Y.O.U.N.G Ghostbusters participate in many Comic Con and car show events throughout the year. And they happen to touch tens of thousands of people with their positive message in doing so. In fact, their mission has been so well received that their attendance and booth fees are usually waived. As you can see in the pictures below, they have quite an elaborate setup that pulls in a great crowd.

Recognizing the admirable spirit and hard work behind their cause, Carlos Molina of Projekt Cars wanted to do something extra special to honor such good deeds. On September 24th, Projekt Cars presented over $20,000 in free truck accessories to Manny Alfaro and the Y.O.U.N.G Ghostbusters group. Now they can have a greater show presence at upcoming regional events. Molina was able to round up several of Projekt Car’s affiliate sponsors to make the presentation possible, which took place at the Children’s Miracle Network Car Show and Shine, organized by Leonard Black.
