Fab Fours Project GOLDSTAR Brings Hope to Military Families

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Fab Fours may very well be the most (amazingly) polarizing company in the aftermarket. No one is arguing that its engineering, craftsmanship, and innovation isn’t top notch, but the products the company designs are not for everyone. (In fact, it says so right on the webpage.) Brash and over-the-top, the Fab Fours name alone can raise the blood-pressure of many an off-road traditionalist.

Unsurprisingly, the company’s builds look like nothing that came before them.

From the Legend that started it all to the Kymera and the Daylighter, to the Mall Assault, Fab Fours continues to take what others see as fantasy concepts and brings them to the street. Like the brand’s mission states: Our vision is innovation and taking risks.

That’s why, when planning its current build, Fab Fours took inspiration from those who have truly risked everything to defend and protect the freedom to create.

Project GOLDSTAR

Fab Fours’ Project Goldstar Jeep Gladiator pays respect to America’s Gold Star Families — a non-profit organization created to offer honor, hope, and healing to those who have lost family members in active duty service. The group provides programs and services, at no cost, to families who have lost a loved one in the U.S. Armed Forces.

While nothing can ever truly repay what these soldiers have given, the American Gold Star Families Organization offers grief counseling, memorials and events, and scholarships, as well as additional programs to honor the fallen and their families. Fab Fours created the Goldstar Jeep to bring attention to this great cause, and it will be auctioned off with the funds going to military families that have suffered such a loss.

After learning about the great work America’s Gold Star Families’ does, Fab Fours CEO Greg Higgs knew his company could contribute. “Who speaks military more than Fab Fours? We have a lot of veterans that work in our plant, all the way up to our leadership team,” he says.

“We knew we could do something eye-catching, and here she is.”

Eye-catching is certainly an understatement. From the black and gold paint to the custom wheels paying homage to our military branches, the Fab Fours Project Goldstar build is a fitting tribute to the men and women who sacrificed everything to keep us safe.

“Above all, it’s the mission that matters most,” adds Hines.

Let’s take a look at some of the companies that teamed up with Fab Fours to assist in making this build a wonderful tribute to our military and their families.

SkyJacker

Lifted Jeeps are as American as apple pie, and no suspension company embodies the American patriot philosophy more that Skyjacker. The company’s red, white, and blue shocks are probably the most recognizable suspension component on the road today. So, it’s no surprise that the brand jumped at the opportunity to contribute to military families with the Goldstar build.

When you’re planning a build with 40” tires, you need a suspension system that’s up to the task. And with 50 years of experience and engineering, Skyjacker was an easy choice to help get this mammoth up in the air. The system used on Project Goldstar features Skyjacker’s 4.5” front and 3.5” rear long-travel kit with dual steering stabilizers and beefed up coils.

WARN

Even the most capable of vehicles need a pull every once and again. And what would a performance-built, off-road monster from Fab Fours be without a solid recovery option?

WARN ZEON 10-S Platinum Winch

“Everything we build is rooted in its utility,” says Hines. “So, it’s got the strength; it’s got the recovery points. But it’s always important to have self-recovery in mind. When it came time for this tribute build, we went with the first-in-class, top-of-the-line, WARN.”

The Goldstar features the gold star of winches in the form of a WARN ZEON 10-S Platinum. WARN is not only a trusted name for consumer and professional use, but also the first name our military vehicles use in the direst situations. With 10,000 lbs. of pull capacity, the ZEON can get a heavy rig like the Goldstar out of a tight spot without breaking a sweat.

Baja Designs

The aftermarket lighting segment is completely saturated with cheap copycats and products that I wouldn’t trust to light up my broom closet. The Baja Design LP6 Pros used on the Fab Fours Goldstar are certainly not in that category.

Each LP6 packs 10,300 lumens and a whopping 200 degrees of usable LED light. All that power is then backed by Baja’s Direct Ducted Cooling (DDC) technology, which allows air to travel through the housing directly to the heat sinks.

The Goldstar features four of these behemoths, controlled by cab-mounted toggle switches. And it’s not just a simple “on/off” scenario. The LP6’s can illuminate in several power modes with a crazy amount of directional configurations, giving you ultimate control of where you want your light thrown. Plus, the ambient amber backlighting gives these units a stylish look when you’re flexin’ on the corner and don’t need full power—complementing the accents of the Goldstar perfectly.

Roadwire

While the outside of the Goldstar Gladiator will garner the bulk of the head turns, attention to detail is also showcased inside the cabin. The folks at Roadwire killed it with their new Designer Series leather seats for the JT Gladiator. It’s no wonder Fab Fours chose them to assist in providing the interior, as the one-of-a-kind design supplements the rest of the Goldstar wonderfully.

“While you think about tires, lift, wheels, and all the other big things that drive a build externally,” says Hines, “you spend most of your time inside.”

These seats start with the highest quality automotive-grade leather, and then add color-matched gold piping and stitching for some extra class. The most noticeable feature, however, comes in the form a distinctive tire tread pattern crawling down the center. It’s unique, feels great to sit in, and looks like nothing else on the market.

To give the Goldstar that last bit of personalization, the Gold Star Families logo and mantra of Honor, Hope, Healing is embroidered on and below the headrest.

As for Fab Fours’ product, Project Goldstar features the company’s infamous Grumper truck bumper and matching fender system, stylish Gladiator sport rack, ViCowl windshield, and tube rock sliders. The build also wears Fab Fours’ clever JT rear bumper. We’ve highlighted this unique part on the blog before (along with Fab Fours’ other unique overlanding accessories), as it features integrated tow hooks and D-ring mounts as well as ingenious double rung side steps that make reaching rooftop cargo and gear a breeze.
