Breathe Easy With the New Rugged Ridge AmFib Snorkel
Any Jeeper who cares about their rig—and knows how to get the most bang for their aftermarket buck—is well aware of Rugged Ridge’s brand power. For years, the company has been in tune with exactly what the Jeep crowd is looking for… and how to give it to them at a price they can handle, a quality level they deserve, and a selection broad enough to fit virtually any upgrade project. So, when it comes to JL owners (or those lucky enough to be sporting an all-new Gladiator these days) who want to take their Jeep’s off-road capabilities to the next level, the Rugged Ridge AmFib Snorkel is the perfect way to add extra utility and up the X factor in your ride’s bold appearances.
Planning to get waist-deep in a roaring brook, and don’t want your brand new six-cylinder to suffer because of it? Have some dusty, dirty trail-riding on the docket this summer and hope to avoid sucking all that crap into your engine? Or maybe you have no such off-road plans, but just want your do-it-all Jeep to look like you’re capable of such an adventure? While we don’t recommend that last one, whether it’s for function or style, the Rugged Ridge AmFib Snorkel has you covered.
Killer Design
Is it hyperbole for us to say that there has never been a snorkel that looks more like a piece of stock equipment than the AmFib?? If it is, we don’t care, because this thing looks really good. Like really, really good. Like we’ve been drooling over the rapid prototype since it debuted at the 2018 SEMA Show, scouring forums and social media accounts for even a mere mention of when it was going to drop.
Thankfully, we got our wish this past SEMA—a whole year later. And what was Rugged Ridge doing with all that time? Seemingly perfecting its snorkel. With fitment for Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT models, Rugged Ridge designed a base that fits seamlessly with the models’ factory cowl panels, topping it off with an eye-catching low air intake that looks so at home, you begin to wonder why Jeep didn’t place it there themselves.
OE-Grade Construction
And while looks are nice, for sure, the Rugged Ridge AmFib goes above and beyond aesthetic appeal. It’s a snorkel designed to be less invasive, better performing, and easier to install than any other snorkel Rugged Ridge has ever lent its industry-famous name to.
Thanks to Rugged Ridge’s clever modular design, you can choose between a low or high mount configuration to accommodate a variety of environments. Use the low mount for daily driving and weekend wheeling, and switch to the high mount when you need to tackle particularly dusty trails or water crossings. (It’s worth noting that to use the high mount functionality, you must first purchase the low mount system. The high mount is merely a snorkel “extension” that uses the low mount’s base.)
Made of strong ABS plastic, the AmFib can also stand up to high speeds, nasty weather, and errant branches, rocks, and other debris on the trail. Its high-quality construction comes backed by a competitive five-year warranty for added peace of mind.
Installation is very straightforward, with the AmFib running along the engine compartment and tying into the factory airbox. With virtually no permanent adjustments to your rig’s setup, the snorkel simply mounts to your Jeep with an easy bolt-on installation.
