UnderCover New Applications: 2020 Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD

If you were to chart it out with a Venn diagram, fans of the Chevy Silverado HD/GMC Sierra HD and devotees of the line of UnderCover tonneaus that are known throughout the aftermarket industry for their unsurpassed quality and value, those two circles would have a pretty big overlap. Both are hardworking American companies that believe their customer is their company’s greatest asset. And both represent truck enthusiasts who prioritize rugged performance in a sleekly-styled package.

Well, middle of Venn diagram: rejoice. Today is your day. UnderCover has announced new applications for some of the brand’s most popular tonneaus and products—the Flex, Ultra Flex, ArmorFlex, and SwingCase. And those new rides would be the 2020 Chevy Silverado HD and 2020 GMC Sierra HD. A more likely pairing of capable, tough-as-nails auto manufacturing and a reliable aftermarket rising star, we cannot think of.

UnderCover’s new availability in the Chevy Silverado HD and the GMC Sierra HD couldn’t come at a more exciting time.

Just unveiled in early 2019 at the Chicago Auto Show, both the Silverado HD and its swanky yet nearly-identical sibling with a penchant for chrome details, the Sierra HD, were treated to a full redesign for 2020. And reviews were glowing.

Experts loved the increased capability, towing numbers, and technological refinements of the new big boys. Taller, wider, and longer than their 1500 counterparts, the lone body panel the HD models share with them is the cab’s roof. Although, now that UnderCover has put its team to work outfitting the HDs with some of its most popular products for the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, perhaps now they can have a little more in common that they can be proud of.

Let’s take a look at some of the products ready to jump up a weight class.

UnderCover Flex and Ultra Flex

Both of these popular UnderCover offerings are strong multi-panel, hard-folding units. They provide year-round weather resistant protection, with a look that is both stylish and understated. And, with good reason, the Ultra Flex is UnderCover’s best seller.

Both the Flex and the Ultra Flex are tri-folding covers that offer three secure riding positions, including additional prop rods that help the cover stay in an upright, folded position to allow easy access to the entire bed of the truck. And both models have rubber seals and drain tubes that are specifically designed to direct water away from the bed (and whatever’s inside of it that you need to keep dry in the first place).

There are a few areas, however, where the Ultra Flex outshines the Flex. The luminous light-rail system, for one, making working in the dark a helluva lot easier. The UnderCover Ultra Flex also features BedRug carpeted underpanels, a dual action tailgate seal (allowing the gate to close whether the cover is up or down), and a sturdy five year warranty.

UnderCover ArmorFlex

Still relatively new to the UnderCover line of protection products, the ArmorFlex lives up to its name, and offers plenty to owners of a new Chevy Silverado / GMC Sierra HD. With a tri-fold design, the new ArmorFlex sports the same heavy-duty aluminum construction as the Ultra Flex. Plus, it has the same matte black finish, dual-action tailgate seal, and the same five-year warranty.

But the ArmorFlex alone is coated with a durable LINE-X specialty automotive coating, offering a superior level of protection against everyday dents and scratches. Go ahead, pay to get just ONE decent-sized scratch fixed or dent banged out, and then tell us that a few extra bucks worth of industry-tested LINE-X protection isn’t worth it. We’ll wait.

UnderCover Swing Case

It doesn’t matter if your rig is set up for working hard or playing hard, you’re gonna need somewhere safe to store all that gear you’ve paid good money for. And that’s exactly where the UnderCover Swing Case Truck Bed Toolbox for the Silverado HD and the Sierra HD comes in. This is definitely one of the craftiest storage and protection solutions we’ve ever seen. Easy to use and built to last, the Swing Case is composed of high-impact ABS plastic. Custom-fitted and completely weather resistant, the Swing Case can hold up in absolutely any environment where you can take your Silverado / Sierra HD.

Unlike so many other oafish, cumbersome storage boxes that are mounted all the way back behind the cab, the Swing Case pops out cleverly to meet you at the tailgate. And when you’re done, it just swings back into place, tucked tidily around the wheel well. Another plus: since the Swing Case stands upright on its own, you can take all your stuff with you. Once the bracket is installed, you won’t be needing any tools to take the entire case on and off. The UnderCover Swing Case comes with the company’s one year warranty, and, of course, is compatible with the entire line of UnderCover truck bed covers.

Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD owners, you’re out of excuses.

You paid top dollar for a real truck that can get some serious work done. Now, why not let the folks at UnderCover help you protect your investment? Don’t wait til you’re swearing under your breath and texting your cousin who does body work to see if he can get that dent out. An ounce of prevention, as they say, is worth a pound of cure.
