Randy Bowers: A Lifetime Car Guy and Harley-Davidson Road King

The man drives a 2016 Harley-Davidson Road King FLHR. Nuff’ said… It may have taken him 47 years to ride off the lot with his dream purchase, but Randy Bower and his fascination with Harleys dates back to childhood. “My friend’s dad used to take me for rides around the neighborhood when I was about seven, telling me to hold on tight to the bars,” remembered Bowers.
Meet the Road King.

But a Harley isn’t the only sweet ride he hopes to pull into the garage. Bowers has his eyes on a red 1969 Chevy Chevelle, too. While discussing his admiration for every clean line of the body style, he recalled an early appreciation. “I remember those cars when they were new and wanted one the second I saw it on the lot back in the day. One day I will have that car,” Bowers laughed. And we have no doubt that one day those keys will be his because what Bowers’ sets his mind to, he accomplishes. Whether it’s teaching himself a new instrument or learning a sheet of music by ear, he’s dedicated throughout.

Hard Work Pays Dividends

Professional football coach Vince Lombardi once said, “Contrary to the opinion of many people, leaders are not born. Leaders are made, and they are made by effort and hard work.” Bowers is the epitome of such a quote, always putting in the time where it counts. A Keystone Automotive senior sales associate located at the Exeter, PA call center, Bowers brings a well-rounded perspective to his role. He’s a talented, self-taught musician and active Boy Scouts of America troop leader to his Eagle Scout son.

A career salesman since the 80’s, Bowers ventured into car dealership sales during the 1990’s after a stretch in the stereo and home audio business. He advanced to Finance and Insurance (F&I) Manager and was the recipient of numerous awards during his dealership tenure, including Salesman of the Year on a few occasions.

Bowers explored a few professional-development opportunities during the next decade but lacked a sense of fulfillment. “I missed talking to people,” said Bowers. An eagerness to reconnect with customers and unwavering appreciation for the automotive industry led Bowers to Keystone where his knowledge and genuine disposition have earned him the respect of peers, managers, and customers alike.

“I really wanted to get back into (direct) sales to help my customers learn and grow,” said Bowers. He’s been able to achieve that not only through his role as a senior sales associate, but also a Harley Davidson enthusiast and wheel and tire specialist. “I love to work with retail shops and dealerships on packages. I’ve been able to help design some really nice shop trucks,” added Bowers.

Customers First

But it’s his unwavering commitment to customers that sets him apart. “I have an old-school view that the customer relationship is always number one,” said Bowers. He’s devoted to helping Keystone customers tap into their growth potential in whatever way he can. An ever evolving, mufti-faceted industry such as ours presents endless opportunities, but Bowers stresses the importance of investing in your own future. “I’ve seen dealerships refuse to adapt to technology and it hurts (or cripples) their business. Everyone has to grow with the times,”he said. Another tip, take advantage of Keystone’s proven business-building programs like the VSCs and holiday flyers. “Get the consumer marketing (collateral) in front of them! Every car should have a flyer on the seat. If you’re a traditional brick-and-mortar shop, then by the entrance area and register. Those who use the resources available to them are the ones who benefit,” he added.

Randy Bowers, Leading By Example

Bowers brings the one-two punch to the Keystone office: a strong skill set and a positive attitude. It’s not about going through the motions, rather being passionate about one’s individual purpose. Bowers understands the importance of hard work and customer service, practicing those values on the sales floor every day. Passionate about music and volunteering with organizations like Boy Scouts of America, Bowers is a refreshing reminder to be true to who we are and live life to the fullest.
