Vehicle Spotlight: Ford Hits Refresh Button on 2017 Escape

Get ready because Ford is hitting the refresh button on the 2017 Escape. And the company pulled out all the stops since the Escape is one of its best-selling vehicles aside from the award-winning F-series. Consumers are sure to get a treat from behind the wheel, with significant changes to both the vehicle’s interior and exterior.

Consumer Convenience

Sit in the driver’s seat of a 2017 Escape and you might get the feeling something is missing. Well, that’s because there is! Gone is the large, hand-activated parking brake. In its place is a new push-button electronic brake that, as Ford says, dramatically enhances the front-row experience. Additionally, the gear shifter has been moved back to allow for easier access to the climate controls. A redesigned steering wheel, new cup-holders, storage bins and a larger center arm rest were added for additional comfort on the road as well.

Tech Savvy

A focus on consumer convenience extends to features like the available SYNC Connect mobile access. So 2017 Escape owners can start, lock, unlock and locate the vehicle via their smartphone with FordPass. And it’s all accomplished with just the touch of a finger. Likewise, it only takes the tap of a foot under the rear bumper to open the trunk. What a useful feature when hands are full! And don’t forget the helpful technology found in the updated automatic parking system, lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control as well.

2017 Ford EscapeThe crossover’s exterior has been given a revamp for 2017, with a new look to the hood and grille. And drivers have their choice of three updated engines. Among them is a new turbocharged 1.5L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, as well as a twin-turbo 2.0L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine.

The 1.5L engine makes a reasonable 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. A 2.0 EcoBoost dishes out 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. And the 2.5L four-cylinder engine with 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque rounds out the options. All three engines are tied to the same six-speed automatic transmission.

Enjoy the ride behind the wheel of the all-new 2017 Escape. Tinker with the one-touch technology and relish in all the OEM modifications that make this model a much more consumer-focused ride. The Ford Escape remains competitive in one of the fastest growing segments in the automotive industry. And we can see why!
