2017 Chevy Camaro Rings in Fifty

The 2017 Chevy Camaro turned 50 with a fitting tribute. Thousands of fans participated in and witnessed a Camaro rally up historic Woodward Avenue. This site was America’s first paved highway and the stage on which Detroit celebrates automotive icons of the past. The 50th anniversary edition of the Camaro is equally iconic. And its features are as classy as the platform itself.

2017 Chevy Camaro 50th Anniversary Edition

2017 Chevy Camaro Anniversary EditionThe Chevy Camaro was first introduced in September 1966 as a competitive design to Ford’s incredibly popular Mustang. Since then, it’s built a brand legacy alongside some impressive pony cars. More specifically, the Camaro has remained wheel-to-wheel as a direct contender to Ford. Fifty years later and not much has changed. Both cars are celebrating significant anniversaries and still producing muscle that offers exciting performance at an affordable price. And this keeps a decades-long rivalry alive and well.

Richard Pinto summed it up perfectly in his article Old War, New Warriors. “The pony-car war has been going on for nearly 50 years, an eternity in our world of ephemeral marketing, but it’s never been as interesting as it is right now. Both Michigan-made machines pack powerful V8s, but they’re clearly engineered for more than revving at red lights. They want to chase each other through switchbacks and pivot through hairpins.”

Chevy’s new special-edition anniversary Camaro salutes this achievement. Did we mention it’s available in both coupe and convertible 2LT and 2SS models? The 2017 50th anniversary edition sports a few extra-classy upgrades. The sleek Nightfall Gray Metallic exterior paired with an orange and black stripe package and distinct “Fifty” badges combines for an aggressive yet timeless look. Special 20” wheels with commemorative center caps and a unique grille accented with satin chrome groom the exterior. And attractive suede-lined black leather with orange stitching sweetens the cabin. Chevy has enthusiasts covered under the hood as well, with the LT1 6.2L V8 rated at a modest 455 horsepower.

It looks as good as it performs, folks. Do yourself a favor and snag some aftermarket vehicle protection since we’re in the middle of winter. Husky Liners or Weather Tech’s will protect that purty embroidery on your factory floor liners.
