SEMA 2019: Body Armor 4×4 Debuts New HiLine Series Front Bumper

As one might expect from a company that has made its bones as a trusted name in the automotive aftermarket, Body Armor 4×4 loves to focus on quality products for the Jeep community—a market that truly knows no downtime or off-season. If you happened to attend SEMA 2019, or followed along online, then you already know that the new 2020 Jeep Gladiator was the belle of the off-road ball, showcased in more companies’ booths than we care to mention.

But as anyone who knows Body Armor 4×4 can tell you, they’ve never been afraid to go against the grain, bucking industry trends and blazing a new trail. So, it was more than fitting that the Body Armor 4×4 booth at SEMA 2019 wasn’t anchored by another Gladiator, but a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, proudly displaying the brand’s new HiLine Series Front Bumper.

Don’t be mistaken: Body Armor 4×4 loves Jeeps. But these guys know that the Toyota Tacoma—compact, nimble, and virtually impossible to kill—is an off-road force to be reckoned with and, well, it deserves something nice, dang-it.

Designed for 2016-2021 Tacomas, the HiLine Front Bumper is ready to take on whatever challenges the terrain can throw at it.

The Body Armor 4×4 HiLine Series Front Bumper adds style and performance to the Toyota Tacoma, perennially one of the most beloved pickups on the market, with a cult-like fan base to back it up.

With a sharp design, that’s buttoned-up enough for a posh city street and engineering built for the most rugged trails you can find, the HiLine perfectly aligns with and complements the lines of the Tacoma. This versatile add-on to the newest Tacomas (including the mildly redesigned 2020 models) is composed of 3/16-inch steel for unsurpassed strength, then finished with a textured black two-layer powder coat that will ensure that your HiLine bumper lasts, even beyond the life of your truck.

The HiLine Front Bumper’s one-piece design makes its bolt-on installation a breeze, with an estimated two hour install time. Some mild trimming of the factory bumper is required, but trust us, it’s nothing you can’t handle. And even better, Tacoma TRD drivers don’t have to mess with the factory TRD skid plate at all.

A grille guard hoop adds protection to the Taco’s fascia, and two sturdy D-ring mounts are ready and waiting when you need to pull your buddy out of a jam in the woods.

Built to help the Tacoma perform to its fullest potential, the Body Armor 4×4 HiLine Series Front Bumper is designed to accommodate light bars up to 20 inches in length, and can house a winch rated up to a 10,000-pound capacity.

Sky Ridge Overland Offerings

Body Armor 4×4 also made sure to use its SEMA platform (and 2016 Toyota Tacoma) to showcase some things they have on the way for the back-half of pickup trucks in the near future. It was a pre-release party for the Sky Ridge line, available a little later this year. The new line will initially feature three different products: an overland roof tent, an annex room, and a 6.5-foot awning.

With an open ear for what customers are asking for, Body Armor 4×4 aims to capitalize on the industry’s current overlanding gold rush with these Sky Ridge offerings.

The main attraction is the two-person tent, made of heavy-duty ripstop material, and including an upgraded ladder for easy access (along with an optional rainfly for the wettest of climates). The ground-level annex room and the awning can be added on to increase protected space, and make sure that even if it rains on your parade, you can wait it out while staying high and dry.

And fear not, the Sky Ridge goodies aren’t just for Tacomas. With a deliberately versatile fitment, they’ll fit just about anything you’re driving that has a rack on it.

So, April showers be damned. You’d better start planning that spring overlanding trip you’ve been talking about, ASAP.
