4 New Chevy Silverado Concept Trucks to Hit 2018 SEMA Show

Four new Chevy Silverado concept trucks will hit the 2018 SEMA Show next week, which runs from October 30 – November 2 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. And while the new model already offers plenty of room for personalization—with eight trims, six engines, and three transmissions available—the concept vehicles will take customizations even further by displaying the full breadth of the Chevy aftermarket accessory catalog.

Motor Authority hits the nail on the head when it says these rigs are more mannequins than concepts. With each trim already made official, the goal is to help visualize how Chevy’s aftermarket products will look on your dream Silverado. A smart move on the automaker’s part, since the model’s last generation endured a lackluster reception. But before we dive into what makes the new Chevy Silverado concept trucks special, let’s break down what’s new for the model itself.

New Truck, Who Dis?

The fourth generation Silverado, aside from offering loads more options, has had a growth spurt as well. Riding on a new platform, the 2019 model stands 1.5 inches taller, 1.7 inches longer, and 1.2 inches wider. All while shedding 450 pounds, cramming in more bells and whistles, and increasing fuel efficiency. It’s safe to say Chevy took its 100-year anniversary seriously, learning from its mistakes and presenting what it considers to be the “strongest, most advanced Silverado ever.”

“Truck customers want the perfect truck for them, not a one-size-fits-all truck,” said Alan Batey, President GM North America and Global Chevrolet Brand Chief, during the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado reveal at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. With a “three-truck strategy” covering mid-size, full-size, and heavy-duty trucks, as well as multiple special editions within each category, this broad spectrum of trim offerings for the new Silverado is the logical next step for an automaker that considers itself completely consumer-oriented. The following concepts take that approach one step further, showing potential customers the unlimited possibilities of a Chevy truck.

2019 Chevy Silverado High Country Concept

Why not start at the top of the heap? The first of the Chevy Silverado concept trucks to grace the 2018 SEMA Show is the Silverado High Country. Already representing the luxury-minded truck owner, with premium leather, wood trim, and fancier tech, the High Country Concept applies performance parts and accessories to an already-bougie ride.

The Silverado High Country Concept sports a 2″ suspension lift, 6.2-liter cat-back dual exhaust system, and cold-air intake upgrade, as well as six-piston Brembo front brakes with color-matching rear calipers. Cosmetically, Chevy swapped bronze accents for chrome and added an illuminated gold bowtie grille emblem. And convenience features include underseat cabin organizers, a lockable console storage bin, front-row premium all-weather floor liners, a chrome tailgate handle, rear-seat infotainment system, and an Embark Power Max Retractable Tonneau Cover from Advantage. This premium outdoor rig sits on 22″ wheels and stands ready to take on Mother Nature with grace and style.

2019 Chevy Silverado RST Off Road Concept

For those looking for a more rugged off-road option than the cushy High Country concept, Chevy showcases the RST Off Road Concept. According to the automaker, this “trail-inspired” concept truck “shows off the new, dealer-available Off Road Appearance Package” offered by Chevy, as well as a few of the many potential accessories within the catalog. The package includes a sport bar, off-road assist steps and a soft, roll-up tonneau cover—all of which can be seen on the Silverado RST Off Road Concept.

Additionally, the truck slated for the 2018 SEMA show boasts a 2″ factory suspension lift,5.3-liter cold air intake system, 18″ off-road wheels, and an illuminated bowtie grille emblem. A side-mounted bed storage box has been added for convenience, as well as all-weather floor liners and a locking center storage box. Auxiliary lighting comes compliments of Baja Designs in the form of a 40-inch LED light bar and off-road Squadron sport lamps. All of this comes wrapped in a simply-styled Cajun Red exterior.

While most avid off-roaders build up their rigs over time, Chevy-loving adventurers will be happy to see such a stockpile of badge-specific aftermarket accessories available at purchase.

2019 Chevy Silverado RST Street Concept

Those looking for a more aggressive, street-worthy ride can look to the RST Street Concept at the 2018 SEMA Show. The concept truck sports a lowered suspension and custom black body-side graphics, as well as 22″ black wheels and carbon-fiber lookalike accents both inside and out.

The RST Street Concept also boasts a Borla cat-back exhaust with carbon-fiber tips, a 5.3-liter cold-air intake system, and six-piston Brembo brake system. It’s protected from the elements by front and rear-molded splash guards, premium all-weather floor liners, and a sharp-looking UnderCover one-piece hard tonneau cover. Chevy topped things off with a 200-watt powered subwoofer and 200-watt DSP Amp kit by KICKER.

2019 Chevy Silverado LTZ Concept

Last but not least, Chevy highlights the trailering capabilities of the all-new Silverado with its LTZ Concept. According to GM Authority, this concept truck “gets a boost from its Chevrolet Cold-Air Intake Upgrade System and a Cat-Back Single-Exit Exhaust Upgrade System with a bowtie-logo tip. Stopping power is improved via a six-piston Brembo Front Brake Upgrade System with color-matched rear calipers.”

Jazzing things up are 22″ chrome multi-spoke aluminum wheels, 6″ wheel-to-wheel rectangular chrome steps, a detachable Trailering Camera Package, more of those all-weather floor liners, locking center console bins, and underseat organizers, as well as a rear-seat infotainment system and an Embark Manual Retractable Tonneau Cover by Advantage.

These concepts are snazzy, no doubt, but the aftermarket upgrades at the point of purchase don’t come cheap. We prefer a lower trim model that we can personalize with the help of our local auto shop. But that won’t stop us from ogling at their 2018 SEMA Show debut…
