Keep It Cool with Evans Waterless Engine Coolant

The cooling system is one of the most important systems in a vehicle. So, having the right product for it is key. Since engines run on energy produced by heat, the lack of a proper coolant will result in the engine overheating and destroying itself. Water is the traditional cooling agent in any engine. And though it works, it isn’t ideal. Water has limitations, including its boiling point, expansion rate, and the inevitable corrosion it generates. The one drawback to this product is that you can’t simply add it to a cooling system that already has water in it. Evans states that all of the existing water needs to come out, which adds a few minor steps to the process. Evans recommends opening each drain cock in order to completely rid the system of any water. Additionally, the company suggests leaving the valves open for at least one day to allow the system to properly dry out. Evans does offer a prep fluid that’s designed to give the system a thorough cleaning by detecting and draining any remaining water.

The company also recommends using a refractometer to measure the final water content after installation using a Brix scale. If the test shows there is more than 3% water in the coolant, some corrective action will need to take place to ensure the product is offering peak performance.
