Hella Awesome – Northern Lights LED From Hella

We live in a copycat world. Some innovate, some imitate. However, just because you’re not first, doesn’t mean you can’t be among the best.  Color is all the rage when it comes to LED lighting. Although Hella is arriving fashionably late to the party, we think they may just breathe new life into this shindig. Introducing Northern Lights, the new RGB color-changing LED lights from Hella.

Color Changing LED Lights

The versatility of LED technology has made it possible to make off-road only lights, functional when on-road.  Cubes and Light bars that employ color use arrays of single color, LEDs firing backwards to create ambient colored backlighting.  This cool effect can really add pizzaz to a vehicle’s appearance at night.  Hella’s new Northern Lights LED product features forward firing RGB LEDs, allowing for a brighter and more colorful output. Also notable, is that there is a 1-1 relationship. For every white LED, there’s a color changing LED.

The newest member of Hella’s ValueFit lineup, Northern Lights is a game changer.  Using a BlueTooth enabled smartphone, the LEDBle app will pair with the Northern Lights Controller. A controller is required and included in all northern in the cube light kit, or sold separately. One unit can control up to 4 lights, another version can control up to 8.

The Kitchen Synch

The Northern Lights Family has 3 basic product types. There are light bars that range from 8″ to 50″. There are the ever-popular cube lights, and “rocker” lights, designed to light wheel wells and under the vehicle for rock/mall crawling.  The Rocker lights and Cube lights are available in kits that include a 4 light controller. There’s also a combo kit that includes an 8 light controller, rocker lights, cube lights and 2 8″ Light Bars.  All lights come with mounting hardware.

Once installed, simply turn on the RGB lights and launch the app. The app will automatically find your lights as long as you are within 30′ of the vehicle. Once paired, you will have complete control over color and brightness. You can have constant light or strobe, with control over the speed and brightness of the pattern.  You can also synch the lights to music on your phone, for the ultimate off-road dance party.
